Duplex or Dual Living
Dual living or dual occupancy is gaining popularity with savvy investors and young people looking for affordable housing options. So what is Dual Occupancy? Essentially, two dwellings are built on a single block of land, under the same roof or separate, on one title. The main property looks like a typical home from the street but it is in fact divided into two dwellings separated by a fire wall with a private second entrance. Each has individual service connections for energy and water.
While the prospect of building a duplex is enticing, the initial steps involving town planning and securing necessary approvals may appear daunting to some. With more than 43 years in the building industry, Col and the Neater Team offer a comprehensive design and construct service and will take care of all these preliminary stages, guiding you through every step of the way.
Multi-Generational Homes
The family unit has never been more important than now. The rising cost of housing and the pandemic have brought people together. We’re seeing young adults and older people wanting to enjoy the financial and social benefits achieved through multi-generational homes. Teenagers are opting to stay at home longer to save money, while seniors are moving in with family members for care and support. But living together is not easy unless you have a well-designed home providing ample space and privacy.
At Neater Homes we’ve developed a range of multi-generational home designs, offering our clients stylish independent living under one roof.
The difference between dual occupancy and duplex?
A Duplex is typically a single residential dwelling with two individual titles. This usually also comes with two separate entrances to the dwelling and no common areas. A Dual Occupancy is a single residential dwelling occupied by two families typically with a shared common area linking the two main areas of the dwelling.
